Defrag Winner has almost everything you could ask for in a free disk defragmenter. However, it is not free. There is a 7-day free trial available, but after that you must purchase a license key. It is simple to use, and quite effective. It has a graphical representation of the fragmentation of the drive, however it is almost useless due to its looking like a bunch of prettily colored squares. Even the advanced user will find this feature disappointing, as it doesn't actually show you how much of the drive was fragmented before and after the defragmentation process.
There are, however, some upsides and useful features in Defrag Winner. You can set the defragmentation to run on a schedule. The default setting is the first day of every month. You can also select what exactly you want the program to do. It can defrag your entire computer, or just selected drives. It can also optimize the speed of your drives by reorganizing them. Or, if you really want to, you could even have it alphabetize your entire disk drive! The normal user will probably want to just defrag the drive and optimize the speed, but the different ways of ordering the drive could be useful to some, especially a user with drives full of music or video.
The sheer quality of the program should be better for the price of $29.95. The price tag raises the bar on expectations, and this program just can't justify that. However, this program could be a helpful assistant to help you organize several drives that are unorganized and fragmented.
